He didn't set out to direct.
He fell into it sideways.

Gowri Sankar grew up near Tiruchirappalli, studied Physics, and made his way into filmmaking the long way around — through television, through retail advertising, and through a two-year apprenticeship on more than eighty ad films. He has directed on his own since December 2011.

He works in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam, and the conversation is usually the same: find the moment that feels true, and let the brand stand quietly beside it. He is known for calm sets, clear direction, and performances that don't look performed.
